Why should you get to know killyon?

I am an articulate, funny woman who treasures her friends. I am looking for a gentleman with a brain and a sense of decency who I can laugh with. I am outspoken, possibly due to the fact that I am half Dutch and can be (some say, charmingly) eccentric, which may be down to the other half being Irish. I have travelled all over the world and would love to find someone with a similar international "flavour."

I worked as a commodity trader in the City for 18 years which gave me the opportunity to meet some fascinating people and visit far flung places but when I hit 40, I decided there was more to life than living on an aeroplane so I moved to the country and into Publishing. I live in a very pretty village with open fields just outside my garden gate. Most of my friends are married and have also moved out of London but I do make an effort to keep in touch and really enjoy having people to stay at weekends - ironing sheets keeps me out of trouble for the rest of the week! I am no domestic goddess and would rather spend my time reading, doing the crossword, going to friends for supper or walking the dogs.

I am a hispanophile and am passionate about all things South American / Spanish. My great weakness, is English 18th and 19th century watercolours. You know you have a problem when the local auctioneers greet you by name!

I'm good company and a loyal friend. In spite of being fairly street-wise, I still appreciate old fashioned manners. Iam not keen on political correctness, other than that, I am fairly broad-minded.

She describes her ideal match thus:

An intelligent man with a sense of humour. Preferably someone who is well travelled and not appalled by travelling to somewhere obscure and eating something even more obscure. Someone who is well read, can spell ! and a music lover - preferably classical rather than something horribly strident and jarring. A country lover who is happy walking with my dogs but is equally happy at a more formal occasion. A man with a strong character who knows what he wants and is sufficiently good at communicating his likes and dislikes.

I think the three most important criteria for me are a sense of humour, a sense of decency and intelligence. People fascinate me and I have learned not to judge a book by its cover. I'm not good at playing games and would appreciate someone who is not afraid to express their thoughts and feelings.
